Accreditations

What is accreditation and licensing? Montessori School of Fort Worth is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS), AdvancEd/Cognia, and the National Council for Private School Accreditation. Our toddler program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (www.tdfps.state.tx.us) as a school and child care facility. Accreditation means that MSFW has undergone a voluntary, comprehensive process of internal self-study, as well as invited external professionals to review and verify our compliance with the necessary criteria for certification. Additional information about accreditation can be found on the AMS website (www.AMSHQ.org). A copy of the latest minimum standards from the TDFPS agency is kept in the school office.

American Montessori Society

Accreditation by the American Montessori Society provides guidance, empowerment, and high ideals to help your school community implement and sustain the rigorous standards of quality Montessori education.

Accreditation by the American Montessori Society is the gold standard of Montessori school excellence—the highest level of recognition your Montessori school can achieve, and a highly visible indicator of your school’s quality.

Currently, about 15% of our member schools are AMS-accredited.

Cognia

Based on a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria, the accreditation process examines the whole institution–its policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context–to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner. Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection. Rather, accreditation recognizes education providers that demonstrate and sustain their commitments to continuous improvement and better learner outcomes.

NCPSA

The National Council for Private School Accreditation is dedicated to the accreditation process as a viable and responsible means of establishing a witness of school excellence. NCPSA is committed to accreditation based on the concept of voluntary peer recognition; that is, the principle that institutions sharing common purposes and distinctives are better able to assist one another in achieving the standards for academic excellence and responsiveness to their respective publics and the nation.

The National Council for Private School Accreditation seeks to promote and support independent and autonomous accrediting associations serving private early childhood, elementary, and secondary schools that are committed to quality educational programs.
