Creativity flourishes in this atmosphere of trust and acceptance.

Enrichment Programs

The fine arts program at Montessori School of Fort Worth is designed not only to educate children in art, music and Spanish, it also stimulates the brain so that other learning can take place and taps into the emotions and encourages creativity.

Music

We have an outstanding music literacy program for children. Our classes foster a love of music in a family context that forms a lifetime appreciation for music. We respond to the flow, meter, and texture of music with movement and singing, and enrich those experiences with instruments. The class context fosters social development and self-confidence.

Art

Children are offered the knowledge of basic principles and elements of art to give more meaning and substance to their art appreciation. This knowledge also serves to improve their critical thinking, problem solving and visual awareness defined as how they view the world around them.

Spanish

Spanish language is introduced at the primary level as a weekly group lesson. At the elementary level, students participate in regular Spanish lessons, building upon their knowledge each year. Middle School students participate in daily Spanish lessons, progressing at their own pace through Spanish I.

Wellness

The Montessori approach nurtures the whole child. The school encourages proper nutrition for all our students. Each level has daily opportunities for play outdoors. The elementary students practice yoga weekly. Our middle school students participate in daily physical education activities.

Gardening

Our bespoke MSFTW Gardening Program has been created to compliment our school’s Montessori values, our unique campus and to add real life context to our robust botany curriculum. Every student in our school takes part in a weekly garden lesson, lead by our School Garden Educator.

For our early years, we focus on observation, exploration and sensory development. Our Primary garden users start to explore plant life cycles, seasons and are tasked with garden jobs such as watering, planting, weeding and harvesting. Our Lower and Upper Elementary gardeners are physically very active in the garden, but also assume the role of garden planners and problem solvers. They take an active role in the maintenance, building and material upkeep of the garden.

Our middle schoolers look beyond our garden and use their expertise to improve areas on our wider campus and in our local community by volunteering at local community gardens and food banks.

Our gardening program not only creates expertise in horticulture practice, and an appreciation for our surrounding nature but creates real skills for life.

Etiquette

The teaching of good manners and proper etiquette is a natural evolution of the Montessori philosophy. Respect is the foundation of good manners and an understanding of what that means promotes acceptance of others and tolerance for ideas different from our own as well as treating ourselves and others with kindness. Knowing what to do and say in any situation helps to develop self-confidence which is an essential part of child development. A Montessori education focuses on the development of the whole child and etiquette is an essential part of that development.
